SYNOPSIS The Missionary Position In 1962 Elder Jerry Wonder, 19, left his comfortable home in South Dakota to journey half way around the world to the rainforests of New Zealand. He was a Mormon Missionary set on converting the native cannibals and their children to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Elder Wonder made a solemn covenant with his Father in Heaven that each time he self-pollinated, he would find a soul for Jesus. By the time Elder Wonder had been in New Zealand for one month, he owed his Father in Heaven forty converts. The Missionary Position is Elder Wonder’s attempt at redemption. Elder Wonder’s single convert was an elderly woman who electrocuted sparrows in her backyard amidst her roses. Leaders of the LDS Church feared that this woman was in league with Lucifer.
